So here’s the thing, right people always think it’s Liverpool or maybe City or even Chelsea that has beaten Manchester United the most but that’s actually not true.
And I didn’t even realise it until I checked for myself and saw it written down properly and it kind of shocked me because you don’t hear this fact get mentioned as much as you’d expect.
The team that has beaten Manchester United more than anyone else is actually Arsenal Football Club and when you really think about it for a second it makes sense because this rivalry has been alive for decades not just in the shiny Premier League era but way back in the old First Division when football was rough and grainy and the pitches looked like farmland.
As of the beginning of the 2025/2026 Premier League season Arsenal had already beaten United 75 times and that latest win was a 1-0 at the Emirates when Calafiori scored and pushed Arsenal further ahead in this record.
When I saw that number I had to stop and ask if it was one of those made-up stats people throw around on social media but it’s not.
It's actually official that Arsenal are sitting on top of that list and comfortably too. Liverpool are next closest with 72 wins against Manchester United and then you’ve got Manchester City who in recent years under Pep have dominated in head-to-heads but overall they’ve managed about 62 wins across history which still leaves them a long way behind.
The thing is you don’t beat United 75 times by luck or because of some temporary purple patch. That's not how it works as this is decades of battles, decades of proper rivalry and big names and drama and fights and everything in between.
Even in years when Arsenal were not competing for trophies they were still capable of taking games off United and those results stacked up slowly like bricks in a wall until you look back now and realise Arsenal have more wins over them than anybody else in the country.
If you think back to the early 2000s, you’ll remember just how insane those clashes were Vieira and Keane clashing in the tunnel Van Nistelrooy against Sol Campbell Henry sprinting past defenders, Gary Neville getting booed at Highbury and United finding late winners it was chaos every single time.
But even through all that Arsenal were not just participating they were winning their fair share of those games and those wins mattered because they kept the rivalry alive and they pushed that number higher until today when they sit at 75.
Now with Arteta’s side, you can feel the cycle starting again because Arsenal play with confidence against United they’re not scared of the badge anymore and the Emirates is rocking every time the fixture comes around.
That’s why the record keeps climbing and why it probably won’t stop at 75 anytime soon maybe 76 or 77 by the end of this season.
So the fact is simple, and it is that Arsenal have beaten Manchester United the most times in history and while Liverpool and City are in the mix, Arsenal are still the ones on top.
